Individual Agency Within Connected Systems

Every person generates information through their own activities.

Modern connected systems also contain information generated by other people, organizations, and public infrastructure that describes, identifies, or relates to that individual.

As a result, the information describing a person is no longer created solely by that person's own actions.

Contacts, photographs, messages, calendars, and shared systems can describe someone else.

Employers, retailers, financial institutions, and service providers create operational records.
